Peyton Manning out for the Season?

manning

Earlier today SBNation reported that Indianapolis quarterback Peyton Manning may be out for the rest of the season, which may be true.  They report: According to ESPN’s 1070 The Fan in Indianapolis, Peyton Manning will need additional surgery on his neck. Some Colts fans describe the outlet as legit, but it’s still just a report … and other Colts fans aren’t quite as convinced.

We would like to answer some questions that many people have right now.

Is Manning going to have a second surgery?  Yes.

Will this knock him out for the entire year?

This depends on Kerry Collins and the rest of the team.   If, at the time of his possible return, the Colts are in contention, Manning will come back.  However, the chances of the Colts being in contention without this Hall of Famer are slim to none, in our opinion.

Since Manning already had one surgery earlier this year, the second procedure could be a very bad sign for the long term of this Hall of Fame QB.  Manning, who was activated only 5 days ago, has been practicing, but only lightly for the last few days.

Aside from the fact that the Super Bowl will be in Indy this year, Manning signed a $90 million contract at the end of July. This puts tremendous pressure on the QB to come back if the team is in the hunt.

Keep your eyes on te TV tomorrow for the press release, our best educated guess is that he IS done for the 2011 season, but not completely from the injury.  It is on the shoulders of the Colts team to keep themselves in the race so Manning has a reason to come back and play, otherwise the Colts will NOT see him this season.

Time to make some trades fantasy players.
