15 Car Crash at IndyCar Race Las Vegas (VIDEO)

IndyCar Crash Las Vegas

There has been a 15 car accident in Las Vegas at the IndyCar race.

UPDATE 4:40pm (est): Dan Wheldon has been taken via helicopter to the hospital. No word on his actual condition as of yet, but a lot of concern at the moment.

UPDATE 5:15pm (est): Drivers are currently in a private meeting with racing officials. Nobody knows what is being talked about, but it could be on the condition of Dan Wheldon, and if they should continue on with the race at this point.

UPDATE 5:53pm (est): At about 2 hours into red flag, the drivers are leaving the meeting. No interviews are being allowed with drivers yet, and we are waiting on statement from race officials.

UPDATE 6:00pm (est): Sad day in racing. It has been offically announced that Dan Wheldon has died. The race has been cancelled, and drivers will be doing a 5 laps around the track to honor Dan Wheldon.

UPDATE 6:20pm (est): Drivers are on the track for 5 laps to honor the passing of Dan Wheldon as fans watch in disbelief of the days events.

UPDATE 6:30pm (est): the 5 laps are complete and the Race is officially over. RIP Dan Wheldon.

It is not clear the amount of injuries, but will update as we get more information.
