Eli Manning and the New York Giants have had a rough season, despite being 5-2 and in first place, they have played sloppy.  The Giants have gone through an entire 7 game season loking like a pre-season ball club and it may get worse now.

As they get ready to play the New England Patriots,  the Team of the 2000’s, this week  The New York Giants started preparations without five starters yesterday.  They may even be shorthanded when the face off with Tom Brady and the avenging Patriots this Sunday in Foxboro.

Leading rusher Ahmad Bradshaw has a foot injury, Hakeem Nicks has a nagging hamstring, Mario Manningham looks to have the flu, David Baas has swelling in his right knee and Osi Umenyiora has an ailing shoulder injury,  all them sat out Wednesday’s practice.

The biggest concerns seem to Baas and Nicks, who were both hurt last week, however, head coach coach Tom Coughlin says their status is day to day.  He also said Bradshaw and Umenyiora should be ready for Sunday.

In the case of David Baas, his importance, as the center of the offense, was well stated in the Monday Night Football game last week between the Chargers and the Chiefs.  The Patriots are not the type of team that you want to play after making simple mistakes.  Giving the ball back to Tom Brady needlessly is never a good idea, so this should be an area of concern for the team and the fans.

The good news for the Giants is that Justin Tuck returned to the lineup Sunday after missing three games with neck and groin injuries and appears to be back to full strength.
