16 year NFL veteran Brian Dawkins of the Denver Broncos has announced his retirement from football.

Dawkins made an announcement via Twitter:

This is a record in longevity, as there have only been two other guys make it 16 years at the safety position, and they are Paul Krause and Eugene Robinson.

We send our congratulations to Brian Dawkins on a great career, and we know the Broncos and their fans will miss having him on the field.
