The Evolution Of Yankees Star A-Rod: Social Media
Search for Sports Apps! We have sen the evolution of Yankees superstar A-Rod over the last 15+ years. We saw when he was top draft choice in the sport, when he reached the Major Leagues at age 19, when he has won every award in the game and by the way, we have also seen him linked to some of the most beautiful women in the world. This laundry list alone has made some fans hate him. Well, this week, he has taken strides towards changing that image. The oft-criticized third baseman has started posting to Facebook.
Though A-Rod joined the social networking site in September 2011, his first post didn’t come until March 30, when he uploaded a photo of himself meeting with fans before a spring training game at Steinbrenner Field.
It’s the evolution of A-Rod and fan reaction to his page has been swift. The 36-year-old amassed over 723,000 “likes” as of Friday morning and is expected to pass 1,00,000 within the month. Most of A-Rod’s updates have come as photos, a peek into the life of baseball’s highest-paid player. He has posted things like:
“Picked up the girls from school and having a little fun,”
Fans could also get a glimpse into A-Rod’s interests. His “likes” include Andy Warhol, “Seinfeld,” “Family Ties,” and — of course — the Yankees.
Alex Rodriguez and the city of New York have had a shaky relationship. Fans everywhere seem to love him when he is healthy and hate him when he has to sit. Historically, A-Rod has had a tough time getting people to like him for whatever reason. Whether it is the big contract, the super star lifestyle, lack of clutch hitting or pure jealousy.
We love A-Rod and hope that this new connection with the world will provide a new way for fans to reach out this sports icon. There have never been and probably will never be many as good as A-Rod, enjoy him while you can.
