Loss of Derrick Rose leaves Bulls without true NBA offensive threat
Nobody in Chicago wants to think about basketball anymore. Any time the word gets mentioned, horrible visions appear of Bulls star Derrick Rose tearing the ACL in his left knee just one game into the playoffs. For one game the fans got to see just how ready their team was to compete for a championship. Then it all fizzled away. Now the Bulls have some hard choices to make. They had hoped to enter the 2012 NBA free agency with Rose healthy. It would have made their moves easier to read on bench stalwarts like Kyle Korver and Ronnie Brewer. However, with the MVP out for close to a year according to doctors the time may have come for front office leader John Paxson and Gar Forman to seriously think about remaking the roster. No one debates that Rose is the future of the Chicago Bulls but if the playoffs were any sign, the team can’t trust defense alone to win them a title. This puts starters like Luol Deng, Joakim Noah and Carlos Boozer in question too. Given the wealth of pricey talent looking for work in the fall, the Bulls may need to sacrifice next season to prepare for Rose’s return.
