Atlanta Falcons cheerleader almost vaults her way onto the U.S. Olympic team.
Search for Sports Apps! So close yet so far away. An Atlanta Falcons cheerleader known as Kat M. almost missed a chunk of the team’s pre-season activities, trying out and almost making the U.S. track & field team as a pole vaulter.
She was inches away from her goal, finishing fifth in the women’s trials taking place in Eugene, Oregon. Missing first place by less than eight inches and third place by less than five, Kat tweeted “5th place. Not half bad for 3.5 years of experience. Thank you everyone for your support. Cant quit now, can I!? #soclose #london2012?
Originally she told the Falcons website that she might not continue on in the sport if she could not compete in London.
“It’s going to be one of the best experiences of my life and I just want to go out, do my best and hopefully make it to Finals,” Kat said. “As of now, I’m planning on hanging up the spikes after trials, but who knows? I might change my mind. There’s always Rio.”
