The 2011-2012 ended just days ago as the Miami Heat captured their second NBA title in six years.  This hasn’t stopped the Vegas odds-makers from compiling the odds for the 2012-2013 season.  Though the season is more than four months away, it is fun too see where each team stacks up before the draft.  These odds will obviously ebb and flow as teams work through the upcoming draft and inevitable trade flurries that are sure to come along with the full offseason.

The Thunder find themselves second on the odds list just behind….guess who? The Miami Heat.  The Heat hold 11/4 odds of repeating as NBA champions. No surprise since the Heat Big 3 were able to capture a championship while carrying a mediocre supporting cast along for the ride.  It is scary to imagine that this Heat team has a full offseason to put the complementary players around Lebron James, a playerwho will get even better in his own regard.

Oklahoma City stands tall with 5/1 odds of finally climbing the mountain top.  Thunder fans should expect their team to be at the top of this list for quite some time.  The Thunder have a Big 4 that have not yet hit the prime of their careers.  General Manager Sam Presti has a plan for this roster and will surely put the pieces around the young core that will allow them to potentially create an epic rivalry with the Heat for many years to come.

The Chicago Bulls follow on the list with 6/1 chances. These odds will surely free-fall as more news is released regarding Derrick Rose’s healing ACL.  Luol Deng and Joakhim Noah are also linked to swirling trade rumors.  With all of these moving parts in Chicago, their shot at a title will absolutely take a hit.

If both the Thunder and the Heat look to put on an encore in the NBA Finals next season, OKC will face the harder challenge just to make it back.  Of the seven teams with the highest odds at a title shot, five of them reside in the Western Conference.
