    Andrew McCutchen. Current batting average as of 22 hours ago. .372 (He also has two hits in tonight’s game. currently in the 8th inning).

    I think we have seen the last of the .400 hitters. Suffice it to say it would be an amazing run if it ever even came close to happening again. I think in recent years, the guy who had the best chance would have been Ichiro. Great contact hitter, can adjust and hit to all fields, and incredible speed. I think his window has probably closed. I think for anyone to come close to .400, they would need these qualities, especially the speed. With pitching a defense as good as they are, a hitter would need his fair share of infield hits to push him over the top.
