Welcome to Lake Tomahawk – the “World Capital of Snowshoe Baseball” – in northern Wisconsin!
This baseball/snow-sport hybrid has been played in Lake Tomahawk for over 50 years. In 1961, the town chairman, Ray Sloan, had the idea to give the area a unique summer sports to attract tourism, give the town a unique identity and help support various civic organizations. It worked. This summer, there is a full schedule of 12 games, played on Mondays and ending August 27.
Wonder how Cincinnati Reds’ prospect Billy Hamilton (the current “fastest man in baseball” ) would fare?
