Sacramento Kings Virginia Beach Bound?? (Video)
Search for Sports Apps! The Sacramento Kings have been no stranger to pulling up stakes and heading for supposedly greener pastures. The team joined the newly formed NBA(merged with the rival NBL) in 1949 as the Rochester Royals and has called Cincinnati(1957), Kansas City(1972, becoming the Kansas City Kings) and, finally, Sacramento, CA in 1985 home.
This year, the Kings sought a deal for a new venue in Sacramento, which ultimately fell through last spring. That immediately spawned rumors about whether the Kings would remain in Sacramento or again relocate.
Now, there are reports(News 10 Sacramento, Inside Business) that the Kings will announce a move to Virginia Beach, VA – possibly as soon as next Wednesday. The team would become tenants of a new arena to be built near the Virginia Beach Convention Center. The deal reportedly would include a 25 year lease with Comcast owning broadcast rights.
Kings’ officials are currently denying the story and the NBA says that no application for a move has been filed at this point. Of course, we have seen sports deals that don’t exist made before.
Here is a taste of what Sacramento, or Virginia Beach, or……… has to look forward to.
So, do you think the Kings are east-coast bound?
