During an Asian Champions League quarterfinal match between Sepahan FC (Iran) and al-Ahli SC (Saudi Arabia) in Iran, the result yesterday could have been deadly.
Sepahan midfielder Adel Kolahkaj found and casually tossed an object he apparently did not recognize as a grenade off the field. The instant it hit the ground, it exploded sending everyone in the vicinity running for cover. Kolahkaj was clearly lucky not to lose a hand.
Incredibly, the match was paused only briefly, then continued on to a scoreless draw.
